The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, today opened a conference on the Kingdom’s experience in fighting terrorism, which was organized by the Saudi Embassy in Britain in cooperation with the British Royal Institute for Unified Services in London. The one-day event consists of four sessions.
Addressing the conference on behalf of the Saudi Interior Minister, Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Prince Turki Al-Faisal said that the Kingdom has been at the forefront of nations targeted by terrorism, and has, accordingly, exerted determined efforts to mobilise counter-terrorism initiatives. The Kingdom has, for example, called for an Arab strategy to combat terrorism, which was adopted by the Arab Council of Interior Ministers.
Prince Naif refuted the allegation that terrorism is a product of Islam, and called for joint global efforts to root out terrorism and its causes. He said that the Kingdom’s efforts at regional and international levels in the fight against terrorist activity and financing are clear. He expressed hope that these efforts would be recognised and acknowledged by the international community.
