22Oct2003 GCC identification cards to be issued for citizens imminently

Doha, 22nd October 2003

The Interior Minister, Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, on Wednesday expressed his hope that GCC citizens will be using Gulf identification cards in the near future.

Speaking to reporters, Prince Naif said: “I hope that the identification cards will be issued imminently, as there are no remaining obstacles. We are awaiting finalization of some technical details, and then Saudi citizens will receive a Gulf identification card to replace their current one.”

Prince Naif praised relations between the Kingdom and Qatar, saying: “It is well-known that relations between the two countries are firm and enduring, in spite of any short-term discrepancies. We hope to strengthen and promote these relations now and in the future.”
