The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr Hashim bin Abdullah Yamani, today received the U.S. Deputy Minister of Commerce, Dr Samuel Bodman, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed the means of enhancing commercial and industrial relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, including potential opportunities for the creation of joint production and investment projects between businessmen in the two countries, enhanced trade exchange, cooperation between the two countries’ private sectors, and progress achieved in the Kingdom’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The meeting was attended by a number of officials.
The volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom and the United States exceeded a value of SR67 billion in the year 2001. Imports amounted to a sum total of SR21 billion, and exports SR46 billion.
