Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard on Saturday departed on a two-day visit to Pakistan to discuss the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan and review bilateral relations.
The Associated Press quoted Pakistani Minister of Information, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, saying that the Crown Prince would be greeted with a very warm welcome. Thousands of people and schoolchildren will fill both sides of the main road leading to Islamabad from the airport to welcome the Crown Prince, who is a “great friend of Pakistan”, Ahmed said.
Talks between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will cover a range of issues, including Pakistan’s relations with India and the current situation in Afghanistan and Iraq.
President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali will receive Crown Prince Abdullah on his arrival at the airport in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital city.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait together provide 90% of Pakistan's oil, and Pakistan enjoys close relations with Saudi Arabia, Ahmed said, expressing his hope that the visit of the Crown Prince would help strengthen ties between the two Islamic countries.
