17Oct2003 Heroin smuggler beheaded

Riyadh, 17th October 2003

Pakistani national, Alf Jan Mohammed Akbar Khan, who claimed that his real name was Mohammed bin Younis Shamshad Muazam, was executed in Houtat Bani Tamin in Riyadh on Friday, after he was convicted of smuggling heroin into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

An Interior Ministry statement said that the culprit was convicted by the Shariah Court, and the verdict was approved by the Court of Cassation and the Supreme Judicial Council. The statement reiterated the determination of the Saudi government to ensure law and order and severely to punish criminals.
