15Oct2003 Crown Prince to visit Pakistan

Islamabad, 15th October 2003

Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander the National Guard, will hold wide-ranging talks with Pakistani leaders during his two-day visit to Pakistan on 18-19 October, the Saudi Ambassador in Islamabad, Ali Awadh Asseri, said.

The talks will cover bilateral relations, the ongoing war against terrorism, recent developments in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq, and issues of concern in regional and international arenas, Asseri told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Wednesday.

The Ambassador said that discussions would take place on means of further strengthening Saudi-Pakistani relations in several fields during the Crown Prince’s meetings with President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. He said that Saudi Arabia greatly values its relations with Pakistan, stressing the significance of Crown Prince Abdullah’s visit.

On 18 October the Pakistani President will hold a state banquet in honour of the Crown Prince and his accompanying delegation at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (the Headquarters of the Presidency). Hundreds of invitees, including the entire Federal Cabinet, provincial ministers and governors, politicians belonging to all shades of opinion, and a large number of diplomats will attend the banquet.

Asseri said that Crown Prince Abdullah’s visit is part of continual consultation conducted between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia at the highest levels.
