Under the patronage of Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, the Interior Minister, the National Committee for the care of released prisoners and their families, will hold its first forum on Tuesday 14 October 2003.
The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, and Head of the National Committee for the care of released prisoners and their families, Dr Ali Al-Namla, said that the three-day forum reflects the concern of Saudi authorities effectively to deal with prisoners following their release back into the community, and their families.
He noted that, in accordance with the teachings of Islam, the relevant Saudi authorities, particularly the Interior Ministry, are keen to extend services to released prisoners and their families.
On 1/1/1422 AH, the Cabinet issued a decision to establish the Riyadh-based National Committee for the care of released prisoners and their families. Similar committees have been formed in other parts of the Kingdom, including Makkah Region, Madinah Region, the Eastern Province, Jeddah, Taif, Qasim, Asir Region, Jizan Region, Jouf Region, Najran Region, Hail Region, Tabuk Region, Baha Region and the Northern Borders’ Region.
