16Sep2003 Shoubokshi delivers speech to UN Security Council

New York, 16th September 2003

The Kingdom’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Faozi Shoubokshi, on Monday stressed the Kingdom’s condemnation of the Israeli decision to expel President of the Palestinian National Authority Yasser Arafat from Palestinian territories.

He said that this decision would lead to a total collapse of the peace process, and constitute a dangerous escalation of the crisis in the region.

In a speech to the Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in the Middle East and developments in Palestinian territories, he said: “This decision reflects a flagrant violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.”

He added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia urged the international community to exert all possible efforts to curb aggressive Israeli policies aimed at confiscating Palestinian lands and negating the rights of the Palestinian people.
