13Sep2003 Developments of Saudi medical education

Dr Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Othman, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education for Educational Affaires, said that Saudi authorities are keen to support developments in the Kingdom’s medical education.

He said that the number of students studying at Saudi Medical Colleges reached 13,644. 356 male students and 114 female students were granted scholarships for medical study by the Higher Education Ministry, and 871 male students and 185 female students are studying at their own expense.

Dr Al-Othman said that due to the importance of medical studies, many medical colleges have been opened in the Kingdom, including Um Al-Qura, King Saud, King Faisal, King Abdul Aziz and King Khalid Universities.
