12Sep2003 Official source condemns Israeli decision to expel Yasser Arafat

Jeddah, 12th September 2003

In a statement issued to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), an official source condemned the decision by the Israeli government to expel President of the Palestinian National Authority Yasser Arafat from Palestinian territories.

The source said that the decision would lead to a total collapse of the peace process, and reflected a dangerous escalation of violence in the region and a further violation of international law.

The official source urged the international community, particularly the Quartet Committee, to pressurise Israel to reverse this decision, in order to prevent the dissolution of efforts to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
