The Minister of Culture and Information, Dr Fouad Al-Farsy, on Wednesday met editors-in-chief of local newspapers and magazines to review issues pertaining to the coverage of the National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 23 September 2003.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Al-Farsy said that the National Day is a celebration of the Kingdom’s unification by King Abdul Aziz. He called for intensive efforts to highlight the development achievements attained in the Kingdom. He also stressed the importance of enlightening people about the menace of terrorists and terrorism.
“The national day provides a good opportunity to remember the importance of the national unity, and the security and stability of the country,” he said, adding: “All security officials, citizens, and residents, should cooperate to enhance the pillars of security and stability.”
The Minister pointed out the significant role that could be played by the media in enlightening youth against the menace of terrorism and deviant ideas.
The meeting was attended by Musfir Al-Musfir, Supervisor of Domestic Information; Dr Ayid Al-Raddadi, Director General of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), and Mohammed Al-Sabbagh, Supervisor General of the Office of the Minister of Culture and Information.
