Saudi Aramco will soon construct two diesel hydro-treatment (DHT) complexes at its refineries in Yanbu and Riyadh to process and produce low-sulphur diesel fuel, from the year 2006.
A report published today by Saudi Gazette said that operation of the Yanbu and Riyadh DHT complexes would significantly cut the emissions of toxic sulphur oxides from motor vehicles and local industrial plants that use diesel.
Both complexes will process Arabian crude distillates to produce diesel fuel that contains a sulphur content reduced from 1% by weight (10,000 parts per million) to 0.05% (500 ppm).
The design of the complexes and the lump sum turn key (LSTK) contracts have all been completed.
