Moscow, 3rd September 2003

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and Itar-Tass, the official Russian news agency, signed an agreement for media cooperation on Wednesday.

The media agreement between the two agencies includes subscription to international bulletins in Arabic and/or English issued by both sides, and the exchange of news services via satellite or other means.

According to the agreement, each party will transmit the services of other party’s to its country’s radio and television broadcasts, and to other subscribers. Each party will accord special attention to news relating to the country of the other party.

The agreement will boost the flow of news to mass media organisations in both countries, and highlight cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

The signing of the agreement reflects the efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Information, under Minister of Culture and Information Dr Fouad bin Abdul Salam Al-Farsy, to develop the SPA and expand its news services to include coverage of the entire world.
