01Sep2003 Afghani beheaded for selling opium

Jeddah, 1st September 2003

An Interior Ministry statement said that Abdel-Samee bin Abdul-Ahad Kari, an Afghan national, was beheaded on Monday, after he was convicted of selling opium in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The culprit was convicted by the Shariah Court, and the verdict was approved by the Cassation Court and the Supreme Judicial Council.

The statement reiterated the determination of the Saudi government severely to punish criminals, and to guarantee law and order.
