The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Saud Al-Faisal, met President George W. Bush and other administration officials at the White House on Tuesday for talks
centred on last week’s publication of a congressional report investigating the 11 September, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
President Bush yesterday refused to declassify the 28 pages of the report which apparently discuss possible links between foreign governments and the September 11 hijackers, saying that publication “would help the enemy” by revealing intelligence sources and methods.
Saudi officials said that they could not respond to a report that they are prohibited from reading. Before meeting with the Saudi Foreign Minister, President Bush made clear that he has no intention of declassifying the 28-page section in the near future.
