Studies are currently underway for the establishment of three free-trade zones in the Eastern, Southern and Western regions, Saudi Gazette reported today.
“Proposals on the free-trade zones, submitted by the Council of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CSCCI), are currently being reviewed by the authorities. The CSCCI has recommended the establishment of free-trade zones in Al-Eqair, Jizan and Yanbu,” said Abdul-Rahman Al-Jeraisy, CSCCI Chairman.
Al-Jeraisey said that the proposed free-trade zones would enhance the Kingdom’s economic opportunities, to export products, and during the pilgrimage, for example. He expressed his hope that the relevant authorities would respond to the demands of the private sector, and establish the trade zones to serve the economy, trade and industrial sectors, and to boost the exchange of commodities.
