18Jul2003 Yemen receives $50 aid from Saudi Arabia for education

Saudi Arabia granted $50 million to Yemen as part of its aid program to help the country expand and develop technical education and vocational training.

Dr Ali Mansour bin Sagah, the Yemeni Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, said that his Ministry is establishing 35 technical and vocational training institutes, which will teach all technical specializations.

“A total of 19 institutes will be set up as part of a cooperation agreement between Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which granted a loan of $50 million from the Saudi Islamic Development Fund,” he said.

The remaining 16 institutes will be established within the framework of the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training development plans, Arab News quoted him as saying.
