15Jul2003 Saudi delegation visits Pakistan’s Privatisation Commission

Islamabad, Pakistan, 15th July 2003

A high-level Saudi delegation, led by Prince Faisal Abdullah Al-Faisal Al-Saud, on Monday visited Pakistan’s Privatisation Commission to assess potential investment

opportunities in Pakistan’s privatisation programme, an official statement said.

The Privatisation Commission Secretary, Ahmed Waqar, gave a briefing to the Saudi delegation on various privatisation opportunities in Pakistan. Prince Faisal and his team expressed a keen interest in the prospects of investment in hotels, tourism resorts, banking, telecommunications and energy sectors.

Prince Faisal said that Saudi investors were keen to invest in Pakistan to broaden and enhance the strong relations between the two countries. Ahmed Waqar said that Pakistan encourages foreign investment. Pakistan’s Minister of State for Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, Rais Munir Ahmed, who was also present at the briefing, said that the visit of the Saudi delegation would further promote

investment activity between the two countries and would boost Saudi commercial and business ties with Pakistan.
