16Jun2003 Pakistani beheaded for heroin smuggling

Jeddah, 16th June 2003

Asghar bin Ali bin Abdulghafour, a Pakistani national, was beheaded here on Monday, after being convicted of smuggling heroin into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said a statement released by the Interior Ministry.

“The culprit was convicted by the Shariah Court, and the verdict was approved by the Cassation Court and the Supreme Judicial Council,” the statement said. It reiterated the determination of the Saudi government to ensure law and order, and to punish criminals severely.
