15Jun2003 Saudi relief assistance distributed to Iraqi people

The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has sent relief assistance worth SR700,000 to needy people in Iraq, it was reported here today.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), WAMY Secretary General, Dr Salih bin Sulaiman Al-Waheebi, said that the relief caravans contain medial materials, foodstuffs and other supplies.

Al-Waheebi said that needy people in Iraq have received 2,960 baskets, 100 rice-bags, 450 cartons of dates, 10,000 cartons of juice and 3,870 cartons of mineral water, in addition to large quantities of powdered milk, clothes, shoes, and stationary.

He lauded the efforts exerted by the Saudi Red Crescent in delivering these items to their destinations in Iraq.
