15Jun2003 Foreign Affairs Ministry directives to assist citizens abroad

Riyadh, 15th June 2003

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed Saudi embassies to exert every possible effort to protect the security of citizens who spend the summer holidays abroad.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Sunday, the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Consular Affairs, Ambassador Ibrahim bin Omar Al-Khirashi, said that the directives will include a 24-hour telephone service to take calls soliciting urgent help or making complains, a fax to receive copies of passports for registration, and contact with qualified lawyers to assist citizens in case they need such assistance during their period of residence.
