07Jun2003 Minister of Health announces first phase of operating KFMC

Riyadh, 7th June 2003

The Minister of Health, Dr Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Manei, today announced that the first phase of operating King Fahd Medical City (KFMC), the opening of a hospital for children, began today. The total cost of all phases of the establishment of KFMC is $611 million.

At a press conference held today, after the opening of the children’s hospital, the Minister said that KFMC is distinguished addition to the Kingdom’s medical services, and is one of the biggest medical complexes in the Middle East.

The City includes four integrated hospitals, with 1,905 beds. The main hospital has 459 beds; the children’s hospital has 246 beds; the maternity hospital has 236 beds, and the rehabilitation hospital has 154.
