07Jun2003 Kingdom lifts ban on Romanian livestock

Riyadh, 7th June 2003

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has lifted the temporary ban imposed on the import of live cattle, sheep and gazelle from Romania, Riyadh Daily reported today.

The newspaper said that the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture for Agricultural Affairs, Abdul Aziz bin Saad Al-Shethri, asked the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry to inform importers of live cattle, sheep and gazelle of this decision.

The Kingdom imposed the ban over two years ago as a result of the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
