The Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) has succeeded in providing alternative channels to restore international telecommunications that were disrupted in the earthquake in Algeria last night.
A source at STC told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the Company hastened to restore international circuits and contacts via alternative land and satellite telecommunications with the countries linked by the disrupted cables.
The earthquake also disrupted Internet channels linked with King Abdul Aziz City for Sciences and Technologies, but alternative channels were immediately set up. Sea cables, which provide Internet services to most of the world, were dramatically affected because they were located in the vicinity of the earthquake’s epicentre.
