21Apr2003 King Fahd receives Egypt's President

Riyadh, 21st April 2003

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz received at Al-Yamamah Palace here today President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and his accompanying delegation.

In the name of the Egyptian government and people, President Mubarak offered condolences to King Fahd on the death of Prince Majid bin Abdul Aziz, may mercy be upon his soul.

The King thanked the president for his kind feelings.

King Fahd and President Mubarak then held a meeting.

On the Saudi side, the meeting was attended by Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard; Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General; Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General; Prince Mite'b bin Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Public Works and Housing; Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Riyadh Region; other princes and a number of officials.

On the Egyptian side, the meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying the president.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in Iraq. The two countries stressed the necessity of implementing security and stability in all Iraqi territories as soon as possible and enabling the Iraqi people to choose the appropriate way to administer their affairs.

They also discussed the situation in the Palestinian territories and the destruction suffered by the Palestinian people at the hands of Israeli forces; the latest developments at Arab and international arenas; cooperation between the two brotherly countries and ways of its enhancement.
