Minister of Information Dr. Fouad bin Abdul-Salam Al-Farsy announced today that the Saudi leadership has endorsed the launching of a new news channel. It will be Saudi TV’s fourth channel.
In a press statement to the Saudi Press Agency here, Dr Al-Farsy said that preparations are now underway to start this channel which will be a major addition to the range of Saudi media channels. With the other means of mass media organs, it will provide a means of disseminating accurate information. "The new Channel will also produce news programs that are concerned with analysis of the current issues and developments in all areas: political, economic, cultural and social. Dr Al-Farsy pointed out that the launch of this new channel comes within the framework of the keenness of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, his Crown Prince and Second Deputy Premier, to develop media and news services (in the Kingdom).
Dr. Al-Farsy stressed that there are many factors that have made the Saudi media a unique model compared with others due to its clarity of vision and goals based on Islamic values and principles which are the pillars of the general policies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Information Minister noted that one of the goals of this channel is to provide a comprehensive local news coverage as well as focus on local and regional events of political, economic and social nature. The new Channel will feature special talks shows on political, economic and social topics.
