SHARQ, the Eastern Petrochemical Company, an affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), yesterday celebrated the successful launch of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Systems Applications Products software, which is known as ERP/SAP.
ERP/SAP is a new technology infrastructure that enables efficient inter-subsidiary trading processes with immediate reporting and analysis to track effective business performance. It allows SABIC to achieve significant cost savings by tightly integrating production, sales, procurement, and accounting processes of the Company’s many subsidiaries and affiliated business partners around the globe.
“SHARQ is the first SABIC affiliate in Saudi Arabia to introduce the ERP/SAP software. Our team in Jubail should be congratulated for their hard work and commitment to launching this project successfully,” said Mohamed Al-Mady, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of SABIC. “I also congratulate SHARQ Chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Jarboa; SPDC President Yasuo Sone, our joint-venture partner; and SHARQ President, Mohammed Al-Jabri, for their exemplary leadership in this endeavour.”
“Additional phases of ERP/SAP implementation will be completed later this year to integrate SABIC’s Riyadh headquarters and international locations into a single system,” Al-Mady said. “We eventually plan to use ERP/SAP as the basic infrastructure for collaboration with our customers worldwide, as SABIC becomes a global leader in the petrochemical industry.”
