The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called upon the international community to put an end to the sufferings of the Iraqi and Palestinian people, and to support the reconstruction of the two countries.
Governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), Hamad Al-Sayyari, who is leading the Kingdom’s delegation to the 67th session of the Development Committee, an affiliate of the World Bank, yesterday said that he hopes for an immediate halt of the war in Iraq, and the implementation of effective measures to enhance security in the country so as to put an end to the suffering of its people.
Al-Sayyari expressed his hope that the international community would also work to alleviate the hash circumstances in occupied Palestinian territories, where the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip face a brutal, unjust besiegement and the destruction of their infrastructure and property.
He stressed the importance of opening the markets of developed countries to developing countries’ exports, in order to foster global economic growth and development.
