As a precautionary measure to prevent the SARS epidemic entering the Kingdom, the Ministry of Health has advised Saudi citizens not to travel to some South East Asian countries.
In a statement, a Ministry of Health official said that the Saudi authorities have also prohibited the entry of passengers coming from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Vietnam, which are the countries where the disease has spread.
According to recent figures, 2,722 people have contracted the disease, 106 of whom have passed away.
The ban, which is being enforced to protect citizens and expatriates in the Kingdom, will remain in place until further notice, the official said. He added that the Ministry of Health was authorized to monitor the situation, and to add countries to the travel-ban list or remove them, in accordance with potential developments.
