10Apr2003 Statement by Prince Saud on Iraq, Arab cooperation

Cairo, 10th April 2003

The Foreign Minister, Prince Saud Al-Faisal, reiterated the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt to help restore security for Iraqi citizens.

In remarks made subsequent to his meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Prince Saud Al-Faisal said that the two countries have a program to provide humanitarian assistance to Iraq.

Prince Saud stressed the importance of consultations between the Kingdom and Egypt on issues pertaining to Arab cooperation, and noted that the initiative of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, in that regard will be presented to Arab leaders at their forthcoming summit conference

The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Mahir, said that the talks of Prince Saud with President Mubarak were characterized by frankness, and added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt will work together to help alleviate the ordeal of the Iraqi people.
