19Mar2003 Official source denies Kingdom’s exile proposal for Saddam

Jiddah, 19th March 2003

An official source denied a news report saying that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially proposed that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein go into exile.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the official source said that the news item transmitted by Reuters News Agency on Wednesday, which was attributed to a Saudi diplomatic source, regarding the Kingdom’s proposal for the Iraqi President’s exile is completely baseless and incorrect.

The source added that the Kingdom would hope that a well-known news agency such as Reuters inquired at the Foreign Ministry to ascertain accuracy and credibility in reporting such news items.
