Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, will patronize a ceremony for laying the foundation stone for the headquarters of the Second Special Security Forces Battalion. He will also inaugurate a National Guard training centre for the western sector in Makkah Region.
Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Saud, Undersecretary of the National Guard at the western sector, stressed the importance of the event, and said that it coincides with the 40th anniversary of Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz as Commander of the National Guard.
Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed noted that the project for the Battalion, which will be implemented on an area of 220,000 square-metres, will include a mosque, the Battalion’s command building, a swimming pool, residential units for bachelor officers, a dining hall, rooms for the guards, maintenance workshops, ammunition stores, class-rooms, halls, sunshades, a training field, a water desalination station, a power station, and other utilities.
Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed said that the Battalion includes 67 officers and 1,073 soldiers of various ranks. He highlighted the significant role played by the National Guard in service of society, in accordance with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General.
