Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) has decided to start operating flights to two additional overseas airports, namely Cochin, India, and Sharam-Al-Sheikh, Egypt, and the additional internal airport of Dawadmi.
This development will raise the number of the airports covered by SAA to 80, including 54 international airports and 26 internal airports.
SAA Director General, Dr Khalid bin Bakr, said that operating flights to the new airports abroad is part of the future expansion plans of SAA. He noted that the first SAA flights to Cochin, which is considered one of the most beautiful Indian cities, would operate effective from 30 March 2003. There will be two flights a week, on Sunday and Monday. Flights to Sharam-Al-Sheikh will begin effective from 25 June 2003. There will be two weekly flights on Sundays and Thursdays. SAA flights to Dawadmi will begin effective from 2 April 2003. There will be four weekly flights on Wednesdays and Fridays from both Riyadh and Jiddah.
Dr Bakr said that India and Egypt are among the most popular SAA destinations in Asia and Africa. SAA operates 56 flights to Egypt from Madinah, Jiddah, Riyadh, and Dammam to Cairo and Alexandria, and 22 flights to New Delhi, Bombay and Madras, per week.
