15Mar2003 Prince Khalid bin Sultan stresses preparedness of Saudi forces

Riyadh, 15th March 2003

Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Assistant Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General for Military Affairs, stressed the preparedness of Saudi forces to protect the country’s security.

In a press statement following the inaugural ceremony of Prince Sultan Second International Prize for Memorization of the Holy Quran for Servicemen, Prince Khalid affirmed that no airport in the Kingdom would be closed except Arar Airport, which Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz announced would be used to receive refugees.

On the voluntary reception of refugees, he pointed out that plans have been made in cooperation with the United Nations and the General Commission for Refugees.

In response to a question on the rejection by the Shield Peninsula Forces to be under U.S. command, Prince Khalid said that the Saudi armed forces are led by Saudi leadership.
