The Water Resource Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will hold its first meeting here on Saturday.
Participants of the two-day meeting will discuss legislation and regulations pertaining to the preservation of water resources and rationalization of its consumption. They will also review prospective training programs for personnel employed in the water sector, and other topics of concern pertaining to this vital sector.
At its first meeting held in Muscat last September, the GCC Water Cooperation Committee, which comprises all GCC Water Ministers, recommended the establishment of technical committees for the GCC Water Cooperation Committee, and assigned to these committees the task of conducting in-depth studies of the conditions of water resources in GCC member countries.
