The Minister of Information, Dr Fouad Al-Farsy, described the outcome of the meetings of the Information Ministers of Islamic countries, which concluded in Cairo today, as a logical development of the recently-concluded Arab Summit meeting in Sharam Al Sheikh, Egypt, and the extraordinary Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Doha, Qatar.
In remarks to the press following the Conference of Information Ministers, Al-Farsy expressed his belief that the meeting has forged a joint media strategy to explain Islamic issues. Although the strategy has a firm basis, it currently lacks sufficient financing. He said that the Islamic Summit in Kuala Lumpur could collect the necessary funds to implement this strategy.
Regarding calls for the establishment of a joint Islamic satellite channel, Al-Farsy said that the project is important, but requires a strong input of capabilities and funds, which will be settled by the Organization of Islamic Conference.
