Prince Meqrin bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Madinah Region, on Sunday chaired the daily meeting of the Hajj Committee.
Prince Meqrin raised the subject of the cases of Iranian pilgrims who suffered food poisoning. The Director General of Health Affairs in Madinah Region, Dr Abul Qadir Al-Tayyeb, briefed participants of the meeting on these cases of food poisoning, and said that the patients concerned were discharged from hospital in “good health” after receiving the necessary medical treatment.
400 Iranian pilgrims were exposed to food poisoning after consuming a meal from their own kitchen. They were reported to have suffered stomach pains a short time after their meals. When their condition became serious, they were rushed to Madinah’s hospitals by Saudi Red Crescent Society ambulances.
Prince Meqrin praised the Iranian pilgrims’ cooperation with the Saudi authorities, which enabled effective handling of their cases. He also praised the efforts of the medical staff of these hospitals.
He issued directives to the Directors of government authorities to cooperate in their endeavours to extend the best possible services to pilgrims.
