03Mar2003 IIRO spends $11.7 million to support 39,941 orphans

Jiddah, 3rd March 2003

The International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), an affiliate of the Muslim World League (MWL), spent approximately $11.7 million during the fiscal year 1421/1422 H to support 39,941 orphans in 51 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe.

The Secretary General of IIRO, Adnan bin Khalil Basha, pointed out that, in addition to supporting a large number of orphans, the IIRO has set up 20 orphanages, which it provided with all necessary medical and education services. These orphanages also offer opportunities for training in the fields of computers, mechanics, electricity, and carpentry, among other things.
