The King Faisal International Awards Ceremony will take place on 8 March, according to a press report published today.
On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General, will award the prizes.
The winners, who are expected to arrive here at the beginning of March, will each receive a cash award, a medal and a certificate, said the Prize Secretary, General Dr Abdullah Bin Othaimeen.
This year’s award for the service of Islam goes to Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Charitable Foundation. The prize for Islamic Studies was won jointly by Dr Ezzedin Musa from Sudan and Dr Ibrahim Harakat from Morocco. The Arabic Literature award has been withheld.
Dr Umberto Veronesi from Italy and Dr Exceel Obrafi from Germany will share the prize for medicine. Dr Madot Frederick from the U.S. and Dr Kuji Nakatashi of Japan will share the science prize, according to the report published by the Jiddah-based Saudi Gazette.
