Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General, congratulated the personnel of the Third Air Defence Command in the North Western Region on the blessed Eid Al-Adha, and conveyed to them the greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, who is also Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the Crown Prince and Second Deputy Premier on the happy occasion of Eid Al-Adha.
He was received at the Command headquarters by Major General Zibn bin Tilaihan Al-Harbi, Commander of the North Western Region, Commander of the Third Air Defence Command, Major General Radhyan bin Anan Al-Ruwaili, and senior Air Force officers. Prince Abdulrahman then visited King Faisal Air Base in the North Western Region to convey the Eid greetings of the monarch, Crown Prince and Second Deputy Premier to personnel at the Base. He was received by Major General Al-Harbi, Commander of the Northern Sector and Commander of the Base, Major General Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Sidais, and senior officers of the Sector and the Base.
Addressing the gathering, Prince Abdulrahman stressed the importance of military service. “Saudi citizens compete to join the Kingdom’s forces in order to defend their religion, king and people,” he said. He praised Saudi nationals for maintaining high morale. “In the future, we plan to double the number of personnel in the armed forces to guarantee our country’s capabilities for self-defence,” he said.
Prince Abdulrahman rejected accusations in the media that the Kingdom could succumb to foreign regulations that contradict the Islamic Shari’a law. He said that in the days of the late King Abdul Aziz, when the Kingdom was a weak state, the country rejected dictation by foreign powers, and was determined to achieve reunification. He said that joint interests could be shared with others, but executive and legislative authority could not be shared with non-Saudis. He assured the Saudi people that the wealth of the Kingdom is for Saudi nationals and future generations. “No means will govern the people other than dialogue,” he said. Finally he reminded the military personnel of their great responsibilities.
He was accompanied by Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Tabuk Region; Prince Jalawe bin Abdul Aziz bin Musa’ed, Deputy Governor of Tabuk Region; Prince Abdul Aziz bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz; Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz; Prince Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz and Prince Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz.
Later, Prince Abdulrahman graced a luncheon party held in his honour by the Command of the Northern Sector and King Faisal Air Base. The function was attended by Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Tabuk Region; Prince Jalawe bin Abdul Aziz bin Musa’ed, Deputy Governor of Tabuk Region; Prince Abdul Aziz bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz; Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz; Prince Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz and Prince Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Abdul Aziz; and senior commanders and officers of the armed forces in the region.
Prince Abdulrahman then left the city of Tabuk for the Northern Region. He was seen off by Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Tabuk Region; Prince Jalawe bin Abdul Aziz bin Musa’ed, Deputy Governor of Tabuk Region, and senior commanders and officers of the armed forces of the region.
