Jiddah, 9th February 2003

The number of pilgrims coming from abroad for this year’s Hajj reached 1,431,012, which is an unprecedented record.

News of this statistic was delivered in a cable received by Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, the Interior Minister and Chairman of the Higher Hajj Committee, from Prince Mohammad bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Assistant Interior Minister for Security Affairs.

The cable stated that the number of male pilgrims coming from abroad reached 786,943, which is 55% of the total, and the number of females was 644,069, representing 45%.
