The Minister of Information, Dr Fouad Abdulsalam Al-Farsy, today held a meeting in the presence of Prince Turki bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Assistant Minister of Information, to review issues regarding media coverage of this year’s Hajj season and its role in serving the guests of Allah.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr Al-Farsy conveyed to participants the greetings and directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier, and urged them to exert their utmost efforts to serve the guests of Allah, as these efforts should reflect the pioneering role that the Kingdom plays in the Muslim world, and its great service to pilgrims.
Dr Al-Farsy noted that the service of pilgrims is great honour and responsibility laid upon all in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
For his part, Prince Turki bin Sultan pointed out that the Ministry, represented in the Foreign Information Directorate, has sent, via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, invitations to the delegations of official media organisations in Arab, Islamic and friendly states with Muslim minorities, to take part in recording media coverage of the Hajj.
“The plan also included the organisation of visits and tours to show the delegations the expansion of the Two Holy Mosques, the holy sites and their facilities, and the efforts exerted by the Kingdom to serve the guests of Allah, including the operation of information centres designed to facilitate the work of media officials,” he added.
Prince Turki noted: “All arrangements required to broadcast the Hajj rituals live from Makkah and the holy sites are made, with provisions offered for all participating radio and television channels from different states.
For his part, the Acting Director General of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr Ayedh Al-Raddadi, said that SPA’s plan for this year’s Hajj season would be focused on the services extended by the Government of Saudi Arabia to pilgrims to facilitate the pilgrimage and their Umrah (minor Hajj) in Madinah, Makkah and the holy sites.
