The Minister of Health, Dr Osama Bin Abdul-Majeed Shobokshi, on Sunday conducted an inspection tour of a number of health facilities for citizens and pilgrims in Taif Governorate.
Dr Shobokshi visited the health centre of Al-Hada quarter, which serves the citizens of the quarter as well as the pilgrims who pass through the area. He also visited the hospital for chest diseases, where he inaugurated an 84-bed facility. Dr Shobokshi also visited King Abdul Aziz Specialist Hospital, where he inspected outpatient clinics and the emergency unit.
Later, Dr Shobokshi visited the kidney centre, established by the Female Charitable Committee in Makkah Region under the patronage of Princess Sara Al-Anqari, the wife of Prince Abdul-Majeed bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Makkah Region. During a meeting with senior officials of the Health Ministry in the region, Dr Shobokshi said that the number of hospitals in the Kingdom increased from 174 in 1417 H to 191 in 1423 H, and the number of the health centres increased from 1700 in 1416 H to 1776 in 1423H.
Dr Shobokshi noted that arrangements were underway to develop primary health care centres and to organize a series of health conferences and seminars. “In the light of the Kingdom’s big strides in the health sector, it has been declared one of the best countries in the Arab world in terms of health services by the World Health Organization (WHO),” he said. Dr Shobokshi highlighted the excellent arrangements made by the Ministry of Health for this year’s Hajj season, and urged officials to intensify efforts in service of pilgrims and those performing Umrah (the minor pilgrimage).
