Riyadh, 28th January 2003

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has completed its preparations for this year’s Hajj season in advance of its deadline.

Prior to the commencement of the Hajj season, the Ministry informed the Kingdom’s Embassies and Consulates abroad to do their best to serve pilgrims by facilitating provision of visas, taking into consideration every country’s pilgrim quotas, according to the decision of Foreign Ministers of Muslim countries.

Before Tuesday morning, Saudi Consulates had issued over one million pilgrimage visas for citizens of various countries.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consulate Affairs, Ibrahim bin Omar Al-Kharashi, said that the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques ensured everything possible to guarantee the comfort of pilgrims, as the Ministry delegated 99 diplomats to 42 cities around the world, including to countries that have no Consulate, to facilitate the provision of visas for pilgrims.
