27Jan2003 9,500 Hajj medical personnel to operate health facilities at holy sites

Riyadh, 27th January 2003

More than 9,500 medical personnel of the Ministry of Health will begin operating health facilities at the holy sites from next Sunday.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Advisor of the Health Department at the Ministry, Dr Rida Khaleel, said that 80 health centres and 7 hospitals would be located in Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifa. “In addition to medial staff members, 600 medical students from different parts of the Kingdom will also participate in operating health services during Hajj,” he noted.

He said that the Ministry has hired over 115 members of medical staff from the United States of America, Britain and Malaysia to work in intensive care units. He added that the Ministry had implemented a number of development projects at the holy sites, which cost SR32 million.
