12Jan2003 National Festival’s female cultural activities

Riyadh, 12th January 2003

Princess Noaf bint Abdul Aziz on Saturday inaugurated the female cultural activities at the 18th National Festival for Heritage and Culture at King Abdul Aziz Public Library.

The opening ceremony was attended by Princess Hissa Al-Shalan, wife of the Crown Prince, other princesses and a number of academics.

Speaking on the occasion, Jawahir Al-Abdul-A’al, Head of the Female Cultural Committee, highlighted the cultural significance of the National Festival for Heritage and Culture, and said that the Festival has proved to be attractive for citizens of the Kingdom and those of other countries. She noted that female cultural activities would include seminars, literary nights and an exhibition for the formative arts. Jawahir presented a memorial shield to Princess Noaf bint Abdul Aziz.

Meanwhile, a seminar on the image of Muslim women in the western media took place. Dr Noora Al-Udwan, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education of King Saud University, and Noora Al-Saad, member of the academic staff of King Abdul Aziz University, participated in the seminar, which was managed by Muneera Al-Kassem.

The female cultural activities will continue until Tuesday.
