06Jan2003 Saudi Cabinet weekly meeting

Riyadh, 6th January 2003

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz chaired the Cabinet’s weekly session at Al-Yamamah Palace here today.

At the outset of the session, King Fahd briefed the Cabinet on talks and consultation held by himself and the Crown Prince with leaders and envoys of a number of brotherly and friendly countries on the latest developments in the international arena, particularly the Middle East, topped by daily suffering, destruction and killing inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israeli forces.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Information, Dr Fouad bin Abdulsalam Al-Farsy, said that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques informed the Cabinet of the outcome of his meeting with Pakistani Premier Mir Dhafarallah Jamali, which dealt with the latest developments in Islamic and international arenas.

The King said that the international situation is currently fraught with difficult circumstances, which require wisdom and prudence from all countries. He stressed that the Kingdom always utilizes its good offices with friendly countries, and in the international arena, to promote security and stability: the two goals cherished by all peoples. Only civil, comprehensive security will lead to progress that yields positive cooperation and constructive integration.
