Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud won Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Prize for 1422 H., which the Board of Directors of the prize awarded to him in recognition of his concern and interest the fields of scientific research, general services and academic distinction.
This was announced by Prince Miqrin bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, who is also Chairman of the Prize’s Board of Directors.
“On 2 October 2002, the Prize’s Board of Directors decided to forward to the King its decision to award him the prize in recognition of his great achievements and his love of this blessed city,” Prince Miqrin said in a statement. “The King kindly accepted the prize in a letter he sent to the Board on 2 January 2003.”
Prince Miqrin highlighted the noble deeds of the King in service of scientific research, general services and academic distinction, such as: expansion of the Two Holy Mosques; issuance of the Governance System, the Regions System and the Shoura Council System; printing and distributing the Holy Quran; organizing international contests for Quran memorization and recitation; developing education; establishing the Five-Year Plans, and so forth.
