By the end of December 2007, 937 grants, worth a total of US$409 million had been approved. Of this amount, US$123 million was made available as technical assistance, US$56 million was extended in emergency relief, US$11 million sponsored research and similar activities, US$49 million was given to finance projects within the framework of the Fund's HIV/AIDS Special Account, US$20 million for the Food Aid Special Grant Account, US$47 million was approved from the Special Grant Account for Palestine. Also included is US$84 million to cover the subscriptions of 35 least developed countries to the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) and a voluntary contribution to the CFC's Second Account, as well as a special contribution in the amount of US$20 million to the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
