The Saudi Arabian National Guard plays a unique role in the life of the Kingdom.

On the military front, the National Guard has become a sophisticated fighting force, benefiting from modern organization, armaments and military training. In cases of emergency, the National Guard can join with the armed forces of the Kingdom in defense of the realm.

On the cultural front, great energy and resources have been devoted to the implementation of a wide range of social programs, including programs for religious affairs and spiritual guidance, for medical services, for housing and new cities, for culture and education, for information and communications, and for sport.

The spirit of community service is strong in the National Guard and its many social programs include assisting in the provision of services to pilgrims during the annual Hajj.
